The first ever Pan American Gliding Championship was held this spring at the McMinn Co. Airport attracting competitive soaring pilots from Canada, The United States, Argentina, and many other countries. Competition organizer Sarah Arnold describes the event and the experience of soaring with the birds above Chilhowee Mountain in an aircraft that is dependent on natural sources of lift.
